A LDA student from Spring 2007 says: I know I am a better actor, because of your direction, support and advice and because of the amazing program you have set up.
Fall Semester 2008

Richard Digby Day
Students arrived yesterday, September 1, in preparation for the
beginning of our new semester; 23 students from 12 different colleges in
the US are joining us for LDA’s intense and demanding 14 week programme
in British classical theatre. This will be the last one at Brownlow Mews
before we move to splendid new premises in south west London in January
2009. These premises at Kensington Square are part of the University of
London’s Heythrop College and will be Fordham University’s new centre
for their activities in London.
During this Fall Semester students will get to see at least 14
productions at a variety of theatres. They will see David Tennant (of
Dr. Who fame) as Hamlet at Stratford-upon-Avon and Kenneth Branagh as
Chekov’s Ivanov. Later in the semester Mr. Branagh will be coming to
talk to the students. There will be the usual weekly class excursions to
a wide variety of London’s major sites, including the Houses of
Parliament, the National Gallery and the British Museum as well as visit
to Freud’s House and the Royal College of Surgeons. There will also be a
full day excursion to Jane Austen’s house at Chawton, Hampshire together
with Stonehenge and Winchester.
Applications for the Spring Semester 2009 are due by mid-October.
Here you will find information about and images of one of the most exciting theatre study programmes in the United Kingdom. This is a programme designed above all to be practical. You breathe, eat and live theatre.
The London Dramatic Academy addresses theatre as a craft and enables
to improve your skills during the intensive fourteen week semester.
Within all this there is also time to experience London itself – one of
the world’s most vibrant cities.
There are not only the classes themselves, which are described on the
following pages, but there are regular Masterclasses, cultural visits
and a weekly theatre outing.
We very much hope that if you are interested you will take up
the challenges offered by the LDA.
